Drilling

Drilling is the process of penetrating through the ground and extracting rocks from various depths beneath the surface for confirming the geology beneath and/or providing samples for chemical analysis.

Onshore Drilling

Onshore drilling is the process of drilling for oil and gas on land, as opposed to offshore drilling, which is done underwater.

How it works

  • Drilling rigs and equipment are set up on land.
  • A wellbore, a long, vertical hole, is drilled through layers of rock and sediment.
  • The wellbore reaches underground reservoirs where oil and gas are extracted.
